MY strange Hero (복수가 돌아왔다) Review
MY strange Hero Review
NT: Hey world It´s been a while, your girl was trying to graduate university and she did it so yeah, yay.🙌🙌🙌
SBS brought us another school drama starring Yoon Seung Ho as Kang Bok-Su a freelancer and Jo Bo Han as Son Soo-Jeong a high school teacher and Bok-Su´s ex-girlfriend.
The drama revolves around Bok-Su's as he struggles to make a living as an adult ( hmm so relatable), he got expelled from high school due to an incident, where Oh Se-Ho ( portrayed by the actor Kwak Dong Yeon) the son of the chairwoman of the school fell down from the rooftop.
Bok-Su was given a chance to come back to high school, he takes the opportunity to avenge his enemies and clear up his name, however coming back he realizes that things aren´t as they were on his days. ( high school sucks and it´s filled with unnecessary drama, plus human waste *cough *cough bullies).
So far I´m enjoying the drama, it tries to depict the real high school environment adding the usual k-drama tropes. if you´re interested in watching as something to pass the time, feel free to do so. I would define it has serious drama in a light-hearted kind of way. no need to invest your time thinking that it´s going to be the best k-drama of 2019 because it isn´t nor do I want you to be disappointed at the end but for now, it looks ways better than the recent dramas.
Now onto the pros and cons
The Pros:
This drama gives us a lot, from a shameless hero, a desperate heroine to a coward villain.
we have it all, and I am here for it.
The Cinematography- I really like the color palette that they chose, it really captures those autumn days where students are still trying to adapt to the new school year.
The Cast- apart from a few actors, there´s a handful of veteran actors. although it doesn´t mean anything really but at least its good to see them back to the small screen.
The way Bok-Su tries to get his revenge but slowly loses focus, since he has so much to deal with it, such as, finding out the real reason of his expulsion, taking care of his nephew who happened to be on his class, trying to understand the new generation and the problem that they are dealing with, him slowly falling back in love with Soo-Jeong and last but not least making sure that his previous homeroom teacher doesn't become his stepdad. 😅😅😅
The Cons:
The Plot- I feel like they give us a lot in just sixteen episodes and don't know if they will succeed.
Furthermore, The world given to us shows its different dimensions, the writers did a good job trying to show us an in-depth life of the different characters, and the reason behind their behavior.

The Cinematography- yes I said it was beautiful however sometimes it is exaggerated, they intensely used bright lights overshadowing the scenes and the CGI (it's too much 🙊).
The Throwbacks- why do they go back in time every episode? it´s understandable that they were trying to set up the world in the first episodes but still, I´m done already I wished they would stick with the present.
The Villain/ Second Main Lead- Se-ho it´s so weird, and I say this in the kindest way, He tries to show himself as the villain and tries to be hated by the ones he loves but in actuality, he´s over here afraid of his mother 😒.
I don´t know if I even should consider him as the villain ( he´s just confused, has an evil mother and never had real friends until meeting Bok-Su).
So yeah if you´re interested, feel free to watch I´m sure you will enjoy it.
